Education Centre FAQ's

 

Will I be charged for booking a room?

All RBWH and University of Queensland Medical Education users are able to book and utilise our facility at no cost during our business hours (Mon – Fri: 7am to 5pm)
A fee will be charged to all other Queensland Health entities outside of the RBWH and any external clients during normal business hours.
A fee will be charged to all hirers of the facilities outside of normal business hours.

Upon receiving your booking request, our team will communicate any associated costs incurred. We will not charge without communicating via email or a quote.

 

What Audio Visual Facilities are in the rooms?

Standard across all of our rooms is a data projector*, a QH PC with inter/intra-net, integrated audio system, and responsive lighting controls. Our AV System is fully integrated - all room microphones and cameras feed into virtual conferencing software on the PC (ie. Teams, Zoom, WebEx). There is always a staff member onsite to assist with any AV issues that may arise.

The centre has free wi-fi, ask staff for connection details.
*Please ask staff for PowerPoint ‘Presenter View’ in the rooms - this is not standard 

 

Are there fridge or microwave facilities for use?

There is NO refrigeration or microwave available.

 

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes, the Education Centre and all rooms are wheelchair-accessible.

 

What should I include in the ‘event notes’ when booking?

You will need to include your cost centre if internal, and anything that you expect from us for your event. If you require handheld microphones or a whiteboard; if you'd like the room set-up in a U-Shape or chairs only; if you have Teams and would like assistance. Let us know if you will be ordering catering or need foyer space, as it is a shared space and we need to monitor the use between rooms.

 

What if I need set-up time for my booking?

You need to include your set-up time in your booking times. You can always put the official event times in the 'Event Notes' section (for signage, catering, staff assistance or registration purposes).
All bookings have a 15-minute buffer between to allow our staff to reset the rooms, clean surfaces and test equipment where required.

Please only book the time you require.

 

Can I record my event?

We have high quality recording systems inbuilt in our Auditorium equipment. The recorder hardware receives the camera signal and microphone feed before the PC does, meaning the quality of the visual and sound is better than a Zoom or Teams recording. For a $40 fee, you can have a digital copy of your event recording - up to 10 hours of recording, with any post-recording-edits required - fully facilitated by our team.

 

What are the best transport options?

We offer ticket validation for the nearest carpark - Cornerstone Car Park on Herston Road (only) - which enables a $20 flat rate for a full day. RBWH Bus Station is also just across the road. Both transportation options are accessible for prams and wheelchairs.
